Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, has seen his federal prison release date moved up again. According to Federal Bureau of Prisons records, his new projected release date is April 15, 2028, which is 10 days earlier than the previously listed April 25, 2028.
This is part of multiple changes to his release timeline. Earlier, his release was expected in May 2028, then June 4, 2028, before being moved to April 25 and now April 15.
Why the Date Changed
Officials have not given a specific reason for the latest update. However, reports suggest that such changes can happen due to factors like good behaviour, time already served, or internal adjustments in the federal system. Authorities usually do not provide detailed public explanations for each individual case.
Case Details
Combs is currently serving a 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. He was convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. However, he was cleared of more serious charges like racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, which could have resulted in a much longer sentence.
Background of the Case
The case started in 2024 when federal prosecutors accused Combs of running a criminal operation involving drug-related sexual encounters. They also alleged coercion, violence, and abuse. The defense argued that all encounters were consensual and claimed that the government had overstepped.
Sentencing and Arrest
In October 2025, the court sentenced him to just over four years in prison, along with a $500,000 fine and supervised release after prison. Prosecutors had asked for a longer sentence, while the defense requested a shorter one. Combs was arrested in September 2024 after federal raids on his properties in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami.
Appeal Hearing
His appeal hearing is scheduled for April 9. The hearing will focus on whether his conviction should be overturned or if he should be granted a new trial.
