A manhunt is in progress for a Florida woman accused of stealing HOA funds for plastic surgery and vacations

Authorities are searching for Alexandra Delacaridad Gonzalez, a Florida woman accused of embezzling significant amounts of money from local homeowner’s associations (HOAs) to fund plastic surgery, shopping sprees, and luxurious vacations. Gonzalez, a bookkeeper for Avant-Garde Property Management, is facing multiple charges, including fraud, grand theft, and embezzlement.

The Alleged Scheme

Gonzalez is accused of writing checks to herself from the accounts of HOAs she managed. According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, she created fake invoices and altered ledger entries to cover up her actions, even forging the signatures of authorized account holders.

Sheriff John Budensiek stated that Gonzalez initially started by embezzling smaller amounts—around $2,000—multiple times a week. This quickly escalated to $5,000 per transaction, totaling approximately $10,000 weekly, before she was fired and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Authorities believe Gonzalez used the stolen funds to finance personal expenses, including trips to Disney World and New York.

Charges and Arrest Warrant

Gonzalez is facing serious charges, including:

  • Two counts of fraud exceeding $50,000
  • Two counts of grand theft
  • 61 counts of uttering false instruments
  • 59 counts of embezzlement

Her bond is set at $1,350,000.

Impact on Homeowners

The alleged theft has left homeowners in these communities vulnerable, and the sheriff warned that HOA fees could rise as a result of Gonzalez’s actions. Two HOAs—Whitemarsh Reserve Homeowners Association and The Dunes of Hutchinson Island—have been identified as victims in this case.

Sheriff Budensiek expressed his anger over the situation, stating, “This lady had the nerve to do what she did and take advantage of our citizens.”

Where is Gonzalez Now?

Authorities believe Gonzalez may be in the Miramar area in Broward County or in Vero Beach in Indian River County. They are urging anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

Avant-Garde Property Management, the company that employed Gonzalez, has yet to comment on the situation, although the owner is reportedly “embarrassed and mortified” by the actions of their former employee.
