A West Bank woman who was shot by deputies during a confrontation in Marrero has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, according to court records. Authorities said the incident unfolded in a store parking lot after she repeatedly pointed what appeared to be a weapon at officers.
Guilty Plea and Sentencing
Paige Robin, 63, pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated assault of a police officer in 24th Judicial District Court. Judge Danyelle Taylor sentenced her to five years in prison, suspending four years of that sentence. She will also serve five years of probation following her release and receive credit for time already served.
Details of the Incident
The shooting occurred on May 28, 2025, in the parking lot of a Dollar General along the West Bank Expressway in Marrero. Deputies with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office had been searching for Robin after reports that a woman in a blue SUV pointed a gun at a marked patrol car outside a Walmart earlier that day.
When deputies located her vehicle, they attempted to make contact. Authorities said Robin reached for an object that appeared to be a firearm and pointed it at deputies from inside her vehicle before stepping out and aiming it again. Two deputies then opened fire, striking her multiple times.
Weapon Identified as Air Pistol
Investigators later determined that the weapon Robin had been holding was a realistic-looking air pistol, not a real firearm. The confrontation was partially captured on cell phone video by a passing motorist.
Mental Health and Case Outcome
Court documents indicate Robin has a history of mental illness, which was a factor in the case. She faced up to 10 years in prison but ultimately received a reduced sentence through her guilty plea.
