Authorities in Ponchatoula have banned four individuals from attending this weekend’s Strawberry Festival as law enforcement investigates multiple potential threats tied to the event.
Person of Interest Identified
One of those banned is 19-year-old Amari Sexton, who was identified as a person of interest after a viral video raised concerns among investigators. According to Police Chief Bry Layrisson, several of Sexton’s devices were seized as part of the investigation. He has not been arrested.
Additional Investigations Lead to More Bans
Officials confirmed that three other individuals have also been banned following separate investigations into possible threats. Details about those individuals have not been released, but authorities say each case is being taken seriously.
No Credible Threat, Officials Say
Despite the investigations, Chief Layrisson emphasized that there is currently no credible threat to the festival. Law enforcement agencies remain on high alert, especially following a shooting at last year’s event that left one person injured.
Increased Security Measures in Place
Police say they are continuing to monitor the situation closely and will maintain a strong security presence throughout the festival to ensure public safety.
