Court records show that a New Orleans contractor accused of a fake inspection scheme has been arrested

A contractor in New Orleans has been rebooked on numerous charges after surrendering to authorities roughly a week after police issued a “be on the lookout” alert.

Charges and Bond Details

Jon Andersen, 38, was booked into the Orleans Justice Center and appeared in magistrate court, where Commissioner Jay Daniels set his bond at $49,000. He faces 14 charges, including four counts of forgery, seven counts of filing false public records and three counts of online impersonation.

Investigation Leads to Arrest

The case stems from an investigation by the Office of the Inspector General and the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors. Their findings were turned over to the New Orleans Police Department, which led to Andersen’s arrest.

Inspector General Ed Michel warned that fraudulent contractor activity can pose serious public safety risks, including potential structural failures and building collapses.

Allegations of Fake Documents

Authorities say Andersen created an email account designed to appear legitimate and used it to send falsified building inspection documents. He is also accused of uploading a fake construction permit into the city’s system. The alleged activity is tied to a Mid-City property and took place between June 2024 and June 2025.

Additional Legal Trouble in Jefferson Parish

Andersen, owner of Andersen Design + Build LLC, is also facing a separate case in Jefferson Parish. Investigators say he attempted to reapply for a contractor’s license using fraudulent documents after his license was revoked in July 2025. He had previously been arrested in February on multiple forgery and fraud-related charges and was out on bond at the time of the latest warrant.

Case Ongoing

Authorities say the investigation remains active as Andersen faces multiple charges across jurisdictions, with further legal proceedings expected.
