A 46-year-old man in Pennsylvania, Luis Reyes-Pagan, is accused of nearly beating his girlfriend’s 3-month-old daughter to death during a violent domestic dispute. The infant suffered a fractured skull and intracranial bleeding as a result of the incident.
Emergency Response and Medical Treatment
Police responded to a home on Union Street in Lancaster at approximately 3:34 a.m. on Feb. 15 after receiving a report of a domestic violence incident involving a child. Upon arrival, officers learned the infant had sustained serious head injuries. She was first taken to Lancaster General Hospital and later transferred to Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center due to the severity of her condition.
Details of the Alleged Assault
Investigators say the violence began during an argument over Reyes-Pagan’s cellphone. According to charging documents, Reyes-Pagan told police that Kimberlyn Videa-Dubon, the child’s mother, struck him multiple times while holding the baby. He claimed he swung back and accidentally struck the infant in the head.
Authorities allege the child may have been injured multiple times during the altercation.
Mother’s Alleged Role
Videa-Dubon, 30, is also facing charges in connection with the incident. Investigators say she threw the baby onto a bed during the argument, which may have caused the skull fracture. She is also accused of assaulting others who tried to intervene, including striking one person multiple times and hitting another in the face.
Additional Concerns at the Scene
Court records indicate that another child was present in the home at the time of the incident. Authorities have not released further details about that child’s condition or whereabouts.
Charges and Court Proceedings
Reyes-Pagan has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and endangering the welfare of children. Videa-Dubon faces the same charges, along with an additional count of harassment.
Both defendants were arraigned and released on $50,000 unsecured bail. They are scheduled to return to court for preliminary hearings on April 27.
