Newly released court documents provide more insight into the case against Tyler Robinson, who is accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk during a public event in Utah.
DNA and Phone Data Link Suspect to Scene
According to search warrants, investigators recovered DNA evidence from fingerprints and a smeared palm print found near the rooftop edge of the Losee Center building at Utah Valley University. Authorities also obtained cellphone data placing Robinson in the area on Sept. 10, 2025.
A Google Maps route on his phone reportedly showed directions to a location near the campus, further tying him to the scene.
Alleged Letter to Partner
The documents also include a note Robinson allegedly left for his partner, Lance Twiggs, referred to as “Luna.” In the message, he wrote that he had left home “on a mission” and expected either death or a long prison sentence.
The note included a direct reference to targeting Kirk and expressed emotional conflict, along with a farewell message.
Timeline of the Shooting
Investigators outlined a detailed timeline of Robinson’s movements. Surveillance footage allegedly shows him arriving in Orem earlier that day, entering the Utah Valley University campus, and moving toward the Losee Center.
He was later seen climbing toward a rooftop area and positioning himself with a clear line of sight to where Kirk was speaking at a Turning Point USA event.
Moment of the Attack
At approximately 12:23 p.m., a single gunshot was fired, striking Kirk in the neck while he was addressing the crowd. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Robinson fleeing the rooftop while carrying what appeared to be a rifle.
Charges and Legal Status
Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder and several additional offenses. He has pleaded not guilty, and prosecutors have indicated they intend to seek the death penalty.
