A series of violent attacks near Atlanta has shocked the community after two women were killed and a man was left in critical condition. The case has also drawn national attention due to the identity of one of the victims and the background of the suspect.
Deadly Attacks Across Atlanta Area
Authorities say the incidents happened on the same day at different locations around Atlanta and nearby suburbs. Investigators believe all three attacks are connected.
The suspect, Olaolukitan Adon Abel, 26, has been arrested and charged with multiple serious offences, including two counts of murder and aggravated assault.
Timeline of the Attacks
The violence began early Monday morning. The first victim, a woman, was found with multiple gunshot wounds near a restaurant in the Decatur area. She was taken to a hospital but later died.
About an hour later, in Brookhaven, a homeless man sleeping outside a grocery store was shot several times. He survived but remains in critical condition.
Later that morning, in Panthersville, officers found Lauren Bullis, a Department of Homeland Security employee, with gunshot and stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe at least one of the attacks may have been random.
Arrest of the Suspect
The suspect was taken into custody later the same day during a traffic stop in Troup County. Authorities quickly linked him to all three incidents.
He is currently facing multiple charges, including murder and firearms-related offences. He has waived his initial court appearance, and the case will proceed through the legal system.
Victim Remembered for Kindness
Lauren Bullis worked with the Department of Homeland Security and was known among colleagues for her kindness and caring nature. Friends and family described her as warm, supportive, and someone who easily connected with others.
Her death has deeply affected those who knew her, with many remembering her as a positive and encouraging person.
Background of the Suspect
Investigators revealed that the suspect had a criminal history. Court records show that he previously pleaded guilty to assaulting police officers in California in 2024.
He had also served in the U.S. Navy before being removed from service following his arrest. Reports suggest additional past charges, including sexual battery.
Political Attention on the Case
The case has drawn attention from officials, including Markwayne Mullin, who raised concerns about the suspect’s background and citizenship status.
The suspect reportedly became a U.S. citizen in 2022, and officials are now questioning whether earlier checks were properly conducted.
Ongoing Investigation
Police continue to investigate the motive behind the attacks. At this stage, there is no clear explanation for why the victims were targeted.
Authorities are also working to confirm whether the attacks were random or if there was any specific connection between the suspect and the victims.
