The incident took place at Tangipahoa Alternative School on the morning of April 14, 2026. Around 7:40 a.m., a 13-year-old boy was sitting in the school car line with his father when an argument broke out.
Police said the boy did not want to attend school that day. After the disagreement, his father decided to take him back home. However, just as the car was leaving the school area, a gunshot was heard.

A school resource officer nearby witnessed the argument and had already approached the vehicle. Moments later, the officer heard gunfire and saw the boy walking toward the school while holding a gun.
At the same time, the car suddenly sped forward, crossed the street, and crashed into a nearby house. A woman inside the home described the moment as terrifying, saying it felt like “the end of the world.” Inside the vehicle, a man was bleeding, and a young child was crying for help.
Fortunately, no one inside the house was injured.
