What Happened in the Gulf Fishing Case
The case involves 53-year-old Joshua Thanh Dinh from Duson, who was cited by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries for several alleged violations.
According to officials, agents were patrolling the Gulf when they spotted a commercial trawling vessel that appeared to be actively fishing. After approaching the vessel, they identified Dinh as the captain and began an inspection.
Alleged Violations Found
During the inspection, agents reported finding several issues related to fishing regulations. Authorities said Dinh was in possession of multiple fish species that are strictly regulated under federal laws.
They discovered four bonnethead sharks and 63 Spanish mackerel on board. Out of those mackerel, 32 were reportedly below the legal size limit of 12 inches, which is considered a violation of conservation rules.
Officials also stated that the fish were allegedly caught using shrimp trawl nets, which are not permitted for catching certain species.
