The incident involves an arrest made near Southeastern Louisiana University. According to the Hammond Police Department, a 32-year-old man named Gage Banks is now facing multiple charges.
Officials said the case began when deputies from the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office contacted Hammond police about Banks after his earlier arrest in Livingston Parish for possession of marijuana and THC vapes.
How the Investigation Developed
Police revealed that Banks was already known to them due to suspected involvement in illegal drug distribution. After learning that his residence was within Hammond city limits, officers obtained a search warrant to investigate further.
The search of his home led to the discovery of a large quantity of suspected drugs and related items.

During the search, police reported seizing a significant amount of suspected marijuana, along with pre-rolled cigarettes and THC vape products.
They also found items commonly linked to drug distribution, such as digital weighing scales and vacuum sealing machines. In addition, authorities recovered a rifle along with high-capacity magazines from the property.

Arrest and Current Status
After his initial arrest in Livingston Parish, Banks was released on April 19. However, he was immediately taken into custody again and transferred to the Hammond Jail for booking related to this case.
