A late-night outing in Florida turned into a frightening situation when a woman allegedly opened fire outside a restaurant. What began as a simple goodbye between friends quickly escalated into violence, leaving two women injured and a suspect in custody.
Incident Outside Restaurant Turns Violent
The incident took place on April 17 outside a restaurant in Homestead, Florida. Three women were standing outside, saying their goodbyes after their meal, when an unknown woman drove up to them in a black Tesla.
According to police, the driver, identified as Samantha Morales, spoke to the group from her car and asked if they were okay. One of the women responded calmly, but the conversation quickly became tense. Authorities say Morales reacted aggressively and continued speaking in a confrontational tone.
Argument Escalates Quickly
Police reports suggest that the situation worsened within moments. After a brief exchange of words, Morales allegedly opened her car door and challenged the women. Witnesses at the scene noticed the rising tension and warned the group that she might be armed.
Despite the warning, the argument continued. What started as a verbal disagreement soon turned into a dangerous situation.
Gunfire Leaves Two Injured
Authorities say Morales fired two shots during the incident, hitting two of the women. Panic spread immediately as people nearby tried to react to what was happening.
One of the women reportedly tried to stop the situation by moving toward Morales in an attempt to take the weapon away. This led to a brief physical struggle before police arrived at the scene.
The injured women were later taken for medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.
Police Take Suspect Into Custody
When officers arrived, they quickly separated Morales from the group and took her into custody. During questioning, Morales told police that she did not clearly remember the events but claimed she was acting in self-defense.
She also admitted to having consumed alcohol before the incident, which may have affected her actions and judgment that night.
Serious Charges Filed
Samantha Morales is now facing multiple serious charges. These include aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a firearm, and other related offences.
During a court hearing, a judge ordered that she remain in custody without bond. She is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Her next court appearance is scheduled soon, with further legal proceedings expected in the coming weeks.
