A late-night shooting in Louisiana has led to the arrest of a young man, with a woman now recovering in hospital after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. The incident has raised serious concerns about violence and safety in the local area.
Late-Night Shooting Reported
The incident took place early Tuesday morning in Avoyelles Parish. Around 2:19 a.m., authorities received a 911 call reporting an active shooting on Gum Ridge Road.
Deputies quickly reached the scene and found a woman who had been shot multiple times. They secured the area to allow emergency medical teams to provide immediate care.
Victim Rushed to Hospital
The injured woman was attended to by emergency responders and then transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Her condition has not been fully disclosed, but she is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries.

Suspect Identified and Located
After securing the scene, the case was handed over to the Criminal Investigations Unit. With support from local police departments, investigators were able to identify the suspect as 19-year-old Justin James Thomas.
Authorities tracked him down to a residence on Alvin Ford Lane in Marksville. After a short negotiation, Thomas surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without any further trouble.
Serious Charges Filed
Thomas is now facing multiple serious charges. These include attempted second-degree murder, aggravated second-degree battery involving domestic violence, illegal use of a weapon, and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
His bond has been set at $350,000, showing the seriousness of the case. Officials from probation and parole have also been informed about his arrest.
