A serious road accident in Louisiana has taken a troubling turn after new investigation details revealed that alcohol may have played a role. The crash, which left multiple people injured, including two young pedestrians, is now leading to strong legal action against the driver involved.
Crash That Injured Multiple People
The incident took place on January 29, 2026, in Lafourche Parish on Talbot Avenue near Meadows Circle. According to reports, the crash involved two vehicles and resulted in serious injuries to several people.
A 2013 Honda Accord was moving slowly due to traffic when a 2004 Chevrolet Impala approached from behind. For reasons still being investigated, the Chevrolet moved into the opposite lane in a no-passing zone while trying to overtake other vehicles.
How the Situation Turned Dangerous
While attempting to return to the correct lane, the Chevrolet driver lost control of the vehicle. The car first hit the Honda Accord from behind. After that impact, it went off the road and struck two juveniles who were standing nearby after getting off a school bus.
The two young pedestrians suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to hospitals outside the area. Their condition remains a matter of concern. The occupants of both vehicles were also injured, with some facing moderate to serious injuries.
Investigation Reveals Alcohol Involvement
As part of the investigation, authorities collected standard toxicology samples from those involved. Later results showed that the driver of the Chevrolet, Brian Lang, had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit at the time of the crash.
This discovery changed the direction of the case, making it more serious from a legal point of view.
Arrest and Charges Filed
Following the toxicology results, Louisiana State Police Troop C obtained an arrest warrant through the court. On April 27, 2026, Brian Lang, a 58-year-old resident of Thibodaux, was taken into custody.
He now faces multiple charges, including first-degree vehicular negligent injuring, vehicular negligent injuring, driving while impaired (second offence), reckless driving, and several traffic violations related to road safety rules.
He has been booked into the Saint Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center and is expected to be transferred to Lafourche Parish for further legal proceedings.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have confirmed that the case is still under investigation. Earlier, there were challenges in confirming who was driving the Chevrolet at the time of the crash due to the severity of injuries and the urgent need for medical care.
Now, with new evidence and the arrest made, officials are continuing to gather more details to fully understand the incident and ensure proper legal action is taken.
