A disturbing case from Louisiana has come back into the spotlight after investigators uncovered human remains in the backyard of a Marrero home. Authorities now believe the remains may belong to a man who was reported missing nearly two years ago. The case has shocked local residents and raised serious concerns about what may have happened behind closed doors.
Missing Man Case Takes a Dark Turn
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has identified the missing man as Eddie Tillman, a resident of Marrero who was reported missing in August 2023. For a long time, there were few answers about his disappearance.
However, recent developments have changed everything. Investigators now strongly suspect that Tillman may have been a victim of foul play and that his body was buried in the backyard of a house on Gaudet Drive.
Discovery of Human Remains
Authorities began focusing on a property in the 1200 block of Gaudet Drive in Marrero after receiving new information. Since April 20, officials were seen gathering at the site, setting up investigation tents and carefully examining the area.
Human remains were eventually discovered in the backyard. Although the identity has not been officially confirmed yet, investigators believe the remains are likely those of Eddie Tillman.
The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office, along with the LSU Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services lab, is currently working to confirm the identity through forensic testing.
Arrest Made in the Case
As the investigation moved forward, authorities arrested Dustin Billot, a 32-year-old man who previously lived at the property where the remains were found. He has been charged with second-degree murder, unlawful disposal of a body, and obstruction of justice.
Billot is currently being held at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center with a bond set at $575,000.
Tip That Led to Breakthrough
The case saw a major breakthrough after investigators received a Crimestoppers tip in November 2025. This information pointed them toward the Gaudet Drive home and suggested that Tillman may have been killed and buried there.
Further investigation and additional details helped authorities narrow down their search, eventually leading to the discovery of the remains.
Neighbours Share Concerns
Residents living near the property described it as a troubling place. Neighbours reported frequent arguments, suspected drug activity, and constant movement of people in and out of the house.
Some also mentioned that the home had been vacant since early 2024. According to locals, the residents, including Billot, suddenly left without much explanation.
These details have added more questions to the case and highlighted concerns about safety in the neighbourhood.

Joseph Lopinto, Sheriff of Jefferson Parish, stated that the investigation is still ongoing. While evidence strongly suggests the remains belong to Eddie Tillman, officials are waiting for final forensic confirmation.
