Family relationships can sometimes be complicated, especially when emotions, jealousy, and long-standing disagreements get involved. A recent incident in Manchester has brought this reality into the spotlight, after a wedding turned into a shocking scene due to a long-running family feud.
What Happened at the Wedding
The case involves Antonia Eastwood and Gemma Monk, who are sisters-in-law. Eastwood, 49, reportedly threw black paint at Monk on her wedding day. The incident took place when Monk had just arrived at her venue, dressed for what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of her life.
According to reports, Eastwood called out to her and then threw paint, which landed on the back of Monk’s wedding dress. The situation quickly turned chaotic and even led to a physical fight between the two women.
A Long History of Conflict
This was not a sudden disagreement. Reports suggest that both women had been dealing with tension for several years. Eastwood is married to Monk’s brother, Ashley Monk, which made the relationship even more sensitive.
Ashley claimed that his sister may have had issues with their marriage, possibly due to jealousy. He said that while he and Eastwood got married quickly after knowing each other for only a few months, Gemma had been in a long-term relationship before finally getting married in 2024.
However, these claims are part of one side of the story, and the exact reasons behind the conflict remain unclear.
Claims and Counterclaims
Eastwood also made allegations that Gemma had behaved badly during her wedding, including an attempt to trip her while she walked down the aisle. Gemma denied these claims.
When it came time for Gemma’s wedding, Eastwood and her husband were reportedly not invited. Despite this, Eastwood decided to attend the event anyway, saying she wanted to confront her sister-in-law.
She later said that the act of throwing paint was impulsive and not planned in advance. According to her, she had a container of washable black paint in her car and used it in the moment.
Damage and Aftermath
The consequences of that moment were serious. The wedding dress, which reportedly cost over $2,400, was damaged. The situation also became physical, with both women involved in a fight.

Legal Action and Court Decision
The case went to court, and on April 15, 2026, a judge gave the verdict. Eastwood received a 10-month prison sentence, but it was suspended for 12 months. This means she will not go to jail immediately unless she breaks the law again during that period.
In addition to that, she was ordered to complete 160 hours of unpaid work and pay £5,000 in compensation to Gemma and the wedding venue. She was also given a restraining order for 10 years, preventing her from contacting or approaching Gemma.
The judge, Oliver Saxby, strongly criticised Eastwood’s actions, stating that she had ruined what should have been a special day.
