A tragic shooting in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, has left a 48-year-old woman dead and her husband facing serious murder charges.

Authorities say the incident happened after the couple attended a party and got into an argument while driving home. The case has shocked the Rockledge community and raised renewed concerns about domestic violence.

Husband Charged With Murder

Jose Luna, 59, has been charged with:

  • First-degree murder
  • Third-degree murder
  • Prohibited possession of a firearm

The charges are related to the death of his wife, Alisett Schubert, 48. According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, the shooting took place on Saturday night in Rockledge, a borough just north of Philadelphia.

Argument Began After Party

Court documents state that Luna and Schubert had attended a party earlier that evening. According to the affidavit of probable cause, Luna told investigators he felt disrespected by his wife in front of others at the gathering.

As Schubert drove the couple home in her silver Nissan Murano, an argument reportedly continued inside the vehicle.

Near Fillmore Street and Huntingdon Pike, Schubert allegedly told Luna to get out of the SUV and walk home. That is when the situation escalated.

Struggle Over Firearm Inside Vehicle

Authorities say the couple began fighting over a .38 caliber revolver that was inside Schubert’s purse. The firearm was legally registered in her name.

According to investigators:

  • Luna gained control of the gun during the struggle
  • He allegedly shot Schubert once
  • As she attempted to escape the vehicle, he fired four additional shots

Court documents state that Schubert screamed as she tried to flee before collapsing outside the SUV.

SEPTA Bus Driver Witnessed Incident

A Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) bus driver was reportedly in the area at the time of the shooting.

According to the District Attorney’s Office:

  • The bus driver noticed a vehicle stopped in the roadway
  • He heard two or three gunshots
  • He saw a man exit the passenger side and open the driver’s side door
  • A woman then fell from the vehicle

At approximately 10:05 p.m., the bus driver used his emergency system to report the shooting and provided a description of the suspect.

Police arrived at the scene and found Schubert suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Suspect Arrested Nearby

Authorities say Philadelphia police located Luna about one mile away from the scene.

As officers approached, Luna allegedly put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger, but the weapon had no remaining ammunition. He was then taken into custody without further incident.

Investigators also say that after the shooting, Luna called Schubert’s mother and told her that her daughter was dead. He reportedly said he wanted to kill himself but did not provide details about the shooting.

History of Alleged Abuse

According to court documents cited in media reports, Schubert had previously told a friend that Luna was physically and mentally abusive. The friend reportedly claimed to have seen Luna punch Schubert in the face during an earlier incident.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Upcoming Court Hearing

Jose Luna is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on March 5. Prosecutors are expected to present further details of the case at that time.
