PORTLAND, OREGON – A deadly crash early Saturday morning at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland, Oregon, has left one person dead, and authorities have confirmed evidence of an explosive device found in the vehicle involved.
The crash occurred shortly before 3 a.m. at the Multnomah Athletic Club, which is known as the largest private athletic and social club in the U.S., with over 21,000 members. Police were quick to respond, and the Portland Police Bureau reported that the fire had been contained before officers discovered the deceased individual inside the vehicle.
No Injuries to Club Members or Staff
The Multnomah Athletic Club was closed at the time of the incident, and Adam Linnman, a spokesperson for the club, confirmed in a statement that no members or staff were injured. Club officials have deferred further comment and details to local and federal law enforcement authorities as investigations unfold.
Federal Involvement in Investigation
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has also responded to the scene, with special agents assisting local authorities in the investigation. The presence of an explosive device has prompted a more extensive federal involvement, though further details about the device have not yet been released.
