A 64-year-old woman from Jacksonville, Florida, has been arrested on 11 counts of felony animal cruelty after deliberately killing 11 baby ducks by driving her car over them multiple times. The shocking incident occurred on April 25, when Beverly Sasberry ran over the helpless brood because she was upset that they had made a mess in her yard.
The Horrific Act
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a couple of passersby witnessed Sasberry behind the wheel of her red Honda Accord as she mowed down the ducklings. They reported that she turned her vehicle around multiple times to repeatedly run over the ducks. The mother duck and two of the ducklings managed to dodge the car and survive the attack.
Sasberry’s Confession
The couple confronted Sasberry a few days after the incident, and she admitted to killing the ducks intentionally because she was angry that they had caused a mess in her yard. The couple then reported the incident to authorities and provided video evidence of the shocking act.
Arrest and Legal Consequences
On Thursday, deputies spotted Sasberry’s Honda Accord and arrested her for the gruesome act of animal cruelty. The sheriff’s office emphasized that animal cruelty is a serious crime and that they would not take such cases lightly.
“We do not take animal cruelty cases lightly,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

In Fort Lauderdale, surveillance footage from a neighbor’s Ring camera captured youngsters stomping on a duck in an act of violence that shocked the community. The video was so disturbing that police pulled it from an online announcement seeking information about the culprits.
In another cruel incident, Craig Vogt, 61, was arrested in Pasco County, Florida, in September for allegedly killing, cooking, and eating two of his neighbor’s pet peacocks. Vogt reportedly killed the birds in retaliation because his neighbor had been feeding them, and he even left a letter in the neighbor’s mailbox to inform them of his actions.
