A failed robbery attempt in Kenner, Louisiana, led to a dramatic multi-agency pursuit that ended with a crash and several arrests in New Orleans’ Algiers neighborhood. The incident began on Williams Boulevard and involved a stolen vehicle, a foot chase, and significant teamwork among law enforcement agencies.
The Robbery Attempt and Pursuit
On the morning of May 3, 2026, Kenner police responded to a report of an attempted robbery in the 3300 block of Williams Boulevard. Investigators quickly identified a gray Nissan Sentra with no license plate as the suspect vehicle, which had fled the scene after the botched robbery.
Detectives used camera technology, including Flock cameras, to track down the Sentra. The car was found the next day, parked in the 3700 block of Williams Boulevard.
When police attempted to make contact with the vehicle, the driver fled the scene, sparking a high-speed chase on Interstate 10 east toward New Orleans. The pursuit ended in the Algiers neighborhood when the Sentra crashed into a ditch.
Search and Arrests
After the crash, police set up a perimeter around the area and brought in K-9 teams to track down the suspects. Within an hour, officers apprehended one individual in the Algiers area. Two other suspects had fled on foot after the crash, but one remained inside the vehicle. A search warrant was executed on the Sentra, and a rifle was recovered for evidence.
Suspects and Charges
Kenner police identified 18-year-old Jashawn Randall as one of the suspects arrested. Randall was booked on several charges, including attempted simple robbery, simple battery, aggravated flight from an officer, resisting arrest, and possession of tapentadol, a Schedule II controlled substance. Additional charges are expected to be filed through the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities indicated that all the suspects are believed to be residents of New Orleans.
Multi-Agency Effort
Kenner police commended the collaborative effort in bringing the suspects into custody. The case involved assistance from various law enforcement agencies, including Louisiana State Police, the Homeland Security Violent Crime Task Force, the New Orleans Police Department, Gretna Police, and the Department of Public Safety.
The investigation remains active, with law enforcement continuing to gather evidence and conduct interviews. Anyone with additional information or tips related to the case is encouraged to contact the Kenner Police Department or call 911.
