Authorities have announced the arrest of a second suspect in the case involving the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Drevon Mixon during an attempted robbery in Grand Isle on April 21, 2026.
Arrest of Second Suspect
Jordan Morvant, 20, from Thibodaux, Louisiana, was arrested on Saturday, May 2, and charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, according to the Grand Isle Police Department. Morvant’s arrest is part of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office ongoing investigation into Mixon’s death. He is currently being held at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna with a $250,000 bond.
Details of the Robbery Scheme
Mixon and Wallace Ledet, 18, of Grand Isle, who was arrested on April 26, allegedly conspired to rob three individuals who thought they were purchasing narcotics. Instead, they were lured to an RV park on the 3100 block of LA 1, where Mixon attempted to rob them at gunpoint. In the ensuing confrontation, one of the individuals in the car was also armed and shot Mixon, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Self-Defense and Charges
The person who shot Mixon has not been arrested, as Sheriff Joseph Lopinto stated that the shooting was likely justified under self-defense laws. However, the three individuals involved in the meeting may still face drug-related charges, as authorities have hinted that the deal was initially set up for narcotics.
Previous Arrest of Wallace Ledet
Wallace Ledet, the stepson of a Grand Isle police officer, was arrested and charged with manslaughter, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and attempted armed robbery in connection with Mixon’s death.
Investigation Still Ongoing
While Morvant’s exact role in the robbery remains unclear, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case. The department has yet to release further details about Morvant’s involvement.
