Xavier Williams, an 18-year-old man, has been arrested in connection with a shooting that injured a Northeast High School student as he was getting off a bus on Tuesday afternoon. The shooting took place along Cooper Drive, and Williams, along with cousins Kriston Williams and Cameron Williams, faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
Previous Arrest and Release
Court records show that just a week before the shooting, on April 29, Williams was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force for aggravated assault of a dating partner. The arrest stemmed from an incident where Williams allegedly tried to hit his girlfriend at his uncle’s house in Baker. East Baton Rouge Parish deputies responded to shots being fired on the evening of April 23.
On May 1, Williams was released on bond from the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and placed on house arrest with an ankle monitor. Despite being under house arrest, Williams was arrested again on Tuesday in connection with the shooting of the high school student.
Investigation and Legal Consequences
The investigation into the shooting continues, and Williams now faces additional charges for his involvement in the Tuesday afternoon incident. His arrest while on house arrest raises serious concerns about his compliance with the conditions of his release. The case will proceed through the court system as more details emerge.
