The Scott Fire Department responded to a car fire that quickly spread to a home on Brothers Road early Friday morning, around 12:20 a.m. Thankfully, the situation was brought under control quickly, and no injuries were reported.
Fire Spreads Quickly, But Everyone Escapes Safely
A concerned neighbor alerted the family of the fire, allowing the parent and three children to escape before the flames reached their home. Upon arrival, firefighters found that the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. Fortunately, thanks to quick thinking and the fast response of emergency personnel, everyone inside the home was able to get out unharmed.
Quick Response Prevents More Damage
Firefighters from the Scott Fire Department, led by Fire Chief Chad Sonnier, quickly deployed their resources and were able to control the fire. While the side of the house sustained damage from the flames, it did not spread further, preventing even more extensive damage. However, the bedroom wall closest to the car did suffer some damage due to its proximity to the fire.
Cause of the Fire: Accidental, Likely From Engine Area
The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental, with investigators determining that it likely started in the engine area of the car. Scott Fire Department was assisted by the Duson and Carencro Fire Departments during the response.
