Nevada – Area 51, the secretive Air Force base in Nevada long linked to UFO reports, experienced a surprising surge of earthquake activity this week, with at least 17 earthquakes recorded in a single day.
Experts have called the behavior highly “unusual,” especially considering the location and the depth of the tremors, prompting new conspiracy theories about potential underground nuclear testing.
Earthquake Cluster Near Area 51
The earthquakes, which ranged from magnitudes of 2.5 to 4.4, occurred near the base, roughly 80 miles north of Las Vegas. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the first and most powerful quake struck at a depth of 2.5 miles just after 3 p.m. local time on Wednesday, followed by more than a dozen smaller aftershocks.
Geophysicist Stefan Burns remarked on the unusual nature of the tremors in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “This is in an unusual place to get an earthquake.” He also noted that the shallow depth of the quakes raised questions, suggesting the possibility of a covert underground nuclear test. “It’s worth discussing in the context of ‘if this is a covert underground nuclear test,'” Burns added.
UFO Theories Resurface Amid Unexplained Activity
The sudden earthquake activity comes at a time when UFO-related discussions are gaining new momentum. President Donald Trump recently teased that the Pentagon is preparing to release “very interesting” UFO files that were uncovered during his administration.
At a White House event with NASA astronauts, Trump mentioned the files, saying, “We’re going to be releasing a lot of things that we haven’t.”
“I think some of it’s going to be very interesting to people,” he added.
This follows remarks made last month at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, where Trump suggested the first UFO-related releases would be coming soon, promising the public a chance to explore whether the UFO phenomenon was real. “The first releases will begin very, very soon. So you can go out and see if that phenomenon is correct. You’ll figure it out,” Trump said.
Speculation and Concerns
The recent surge in earthquake activity near Area 51 has revived long-standing conspiracy theories about secret government experiments, particularly involving underground nuclear testing. While experts have cautioned that natural seismic activity could be responsible, the combination of unusual timing, location, and depth has only fueled further speculation.
