The St. John Sheriff was on campus Wednesday morning, and the kids absolutely loved it.

Riverside Academy’s second graders received a visit from St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre on  Sept. 7. The students are in the middle of learning about the government and people who work within the government. According to Elementary Supervisor Kristen Roccaforte, Sheriff Tregre visited to give the students more insight on how the police help people. He also discussed the importance of stranger danger. During the visit, the sheriff had a Q&A with the kids.

“The students seemed excited and anxious to start driving as many of their questions were in regards to speeding, seatbelts, and stopping at stop signs,” Roccaforte said.

At the end of the visit the sheriff shared coloring books with the students and they shared cookies with him.
