Over the Thanksgiving break, Riverside Academy’s soccer teams opened the 2022-2023 season by playing several games.

The girls opened their season with three home games at Mickey Roussel Field. The team had a 6-1 victory against Chalmette on Monday, Nov. 21. The team then lost a tough game to Walker 12-4 on Tuesday, Nov. 22. The girls lost to Thibodaux Highschool 8-0 on Monday, Nov. 28.

The girls team has 16 members this year from seventh graders to seniors. There are seven veteran seniors this year: Kallie Bourgeois, Ria Frazier, Sydney Knoy, MaKayah LaRose, Camryn Loving, Anna Mistretta, and Rylee Moore. The returning and new members include: Kasey Bourgeois, Corrin Cashio, Kaydence Hoover, Graci Jacob, Cami LaRose, Camille Mistretta, Amber Palermo, Mia Saijas, and Emme Stowe. The girls team is coached by Todd Bourgeois.

The boys opened their season with three home games at Mickey Roussel Field. The boys took a 6-0 loss to A.J. Ellender on Monday, Nov. 21. The team then lost 8-0 to Belle Chasse on Tuesday, Nov. 22. The boys won their first game in nearly five years by beating Ascension Christian 4-0 on Monday, Nov. 28.

The boys team has a 21 members this year from seventh graders to seniors. There are three seniors this year: Enrique Delgato, Luke Hymel, and Thomas Mazzella. The returning and new members include: Tyler Aubert, Brady Bourgeois, Caleb Brumfield, Taye Drake, Ben Duhe, Cameron Galvez, Gabe Galvez, Peyton Gilcrease, Jackson Kelly, Cameron Matt, Craig Matt, Chance Montelius, Tristian Saijas, Mason Smith, Noah Trepagnier, Austin Poche, Ryan Poche, and Cobey Wahden. The boys team is coached by Ben Brady and assisted by Kevin Dauenhauer.
