The Riverside Academy baseball team brought its regular season to a close Monday, April 17 with a tough 3-1 loss to The Willow School, but are now ready for the Division IV select playoffs. The Rebels took a 10-game winning streak into the last game, winning 12 of their last 14.

On March 28, the Rebels blew out Ecole Classique 16-0 thanks a pitching performance by Dane Delaneuville.  Luke Hymel, Ayden Bullock and Ryan Poche had multiple hits in that game.

On April 3 the Rebels beat South Plaquemines 10-4 with Brody Vicknair getting the win on the mound. Ryan Poche and Dane Delaneuville each managed two hits.

On April 4 the team beat Varnado 27-0. Brock Bourgeois got the win for the Rebels, pitching a 1-hit shutout over four innings.

On April 6 they beat St. Martin’s Episcopal 5-0 thanks to the pitching effort by Luke Hymel. Cameron Matt went 2-for-2 to lead the Rebels.

On April 12 Riverside beat Houma Christian 3-2 on the road. Luke Hymel took the win for the Rebels striking out 14. He also had three hits. Brody Vicknair hit a solo home run.

On April 14 the Rebels beat Houma Christian 14-1 to celebrate Senior Day. Seniors Luke Hymel, Thomas Mazzella, and Dane Delaneuville were honored after the game. A second game against H.L. Bourgeois was rained out.

The Rebels closed out the regular season Monday with a 3-1 loss against The Willow School. Cameron Matt had two hits. Vicknair had one RBI.

Riverside finished the regular season 19-8-1 with the No. 11 seed in the Division IV select bracket. After a first round bye, the team will play at No. 6 Sacred Heart of Ville Platte (18-8) in the regionals Wednesday, April 26 at 4 p.m.
