Riverside Academy senior Joseph “Lee” Meyers, left, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre presented Riverside Academy senior Joseph “Lee” Meyers with the 2023-24 academic scholarship from the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Program.

Meyers, plans to attend Nicholls State University to study forensic science. Meyers plans to earn a degree and work in some field of criminology. The scholarship awards Meyers $1,000 for educational expenses.

At Riverside, Meyers was captain of the Marching Pride of Riverside band and won the 2023 John Philip Sousa Band Award presented to the most outstanding band student. He qualified for the 2024 district literary rally and also participates in community theater. He is the son of Carol Webre.
