Eighth grader Imani Daniel goes up for a layup in Wednesday’s home opener against Ascension Catholic.

The Riverside Academy girls basketball team is off to a strong start to its season, opening 3-1 in December.

The Lady Rebels notched their third win with a 64-42 victory in the home opener against Ascension Catholic on Wednesday.

Eighth-grader  Imani Daniel led Riverside with 17 points. Senior senior Chloe Simon finished with 12 points.

Riverside also has recorded victories over The Dunham School (50-33) and Livonia (66-22). The Rebels’ only loss was to Donaldsonville, 59-26.

Head coach Kevin Dizer just finished his football season on Friday and has yet to transition to basketball. He missed Wednesday’s home-opener because of Covid-19 contact tracing.  The ladies were scheduled to travel to Parkview Baptist on Thursday.
