Domynic Elahee, 38, has been sentenced to 21 years to life in prison for the shooting death of 18-year-old Jaeden Smith.
The sentence was handed down by Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas Judge Patrick Dinkelacker after a jury convicted Elahee of two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault.
The conviction stemmed from a tragic incident that occurred in May 2025 at an apartment complex in Forest Park, a suburb north of Cincinnati.
Teenager Was Trying to Address Bullying Concerns
According to prosecutors, Jaeden Smith went to Elahee’s apartment on May 5, 2025, to discuss concerns about bullying involving his younger brother.
Smith had his 7-year-old brother with him when he approached the apartment. Family members said he wanted to speak with Elahee regarding allegations that the man’s 11-year-old son had been bullying the younger child.
Prosecutors argued that Smith’s intention was simply to have a conversation and peacefully address the issue.
Instead, the encounter quickly turned deadly.
Shooting Happened Moments After Door Opened
Court testimony revealed that Elahee’s 10-year-old daughter initially answered the door.
