A man has been arrested in connection with a violent road-rage attack on two reality TV stars in Hollywood, Los Angeles police confirmed. Patrik Simpson and Pol’ Atteu, co-hosts of the show Gown and Out Beverly Hills and the Undressed podcast, were the victims of the attack that took place on Sunday morning in Hollywood.
The Attack on Melrose Avenue and Vine Street
Simpson and Atteu were driving through the busy intersection of Melrose Avenue and Vine Street when a man in a Toyota 4Runner blocked their car. Footage from the incident, recorded by Simpson, shows the suspect aggressively punching and kicking the window and door of the couple’s vehicle.
Simpson, visibly shaken, described the attacker’s actions as terrifying. “He gave me this death glare, like, literally, I thought he was going to kill us,” Simpson said in an interview with Eyewitness News.
Details of the Violent Encounter
According to the reality stars, the attack came without warning as they were simply waiting at the intersection. Simpson further described the violent interaction, saying, “He punched the window… blood on the car. His hand was bleeding. That’s how hard he hit the car.”
The couple was left confused, unable to figure out what had provoked the man’s violent behavior. They were shaken but uninjured during the ordeal.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) later identified the suspect as Kevin Antonio Hernandez. He was arrested on Wednesday and booked on suspicion of felony vandalism. Following his arrest, Hernandez was released, though further legal actions may be pending.
Public Reaction and Ongoing Investigation
The attack on the reality TV stars has sparked public outrage, with many expressing concern over the increasing incidents of road rage in Los Angeles. The couple has since spoken out about the incident, emphasizing the need for greater awareness of road rage and the importance of staying calm on the roads.
The LAPD continues to investigate the case, and more charges could be filed as the investigation progresses.
