A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged after a deadly shooting in Delhi, Louisiana, left a 20-year-old man dead, according to authorities. Investigators say the shooting happened on May 17, 2026, and involved multiple law enforcement agencies as detectives worked to identify the suspect.
The victim was identified as Christopher Washington, 20, of Delhi. Officials confirmed he later died from his injuries after being transported to a local hospital.
Shooting Happened on 2nd Street in Delhi
According to the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies and officers with the Delhi Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of 2nd Street on Sunday evening.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they learned the victim had already been transported by private vehicle to the Delhi Emergency Room for treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Christopher Washington later died from his injuries at the hospital.
Multiple Agencies Assisted in Investigation
Following the shooting, several law enforcement agencies responded to help investigate the homicide.
Authorities said the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office, Delhi Police Department, Louisiana State Police, and the Ouachita Parish Crime Scene Unit all assisted at the scene.

Officials announced that a 15-year-old male suspect was arrested Tuesday morning around 7 a.m. in connection with the homicide investigation.
Authorities charged the teenager with second-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
Because the suspect is a minor, law enforcement has not publicly released additional identifying information.
