A 17-year-old has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the robbery and fatal shooting of 19-year-old Darby Marmillion at an apartment complex along Coursey Boulevard in Baton Rouge.

Details of the Crime

According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, De’Aries Taylor, 17, is accused of driving Brandon Lewis, 16, to the City Heights Apartments on April 2, where Lewis intended to buy vape pens from Marmillion. During the meeting, Lewis allegedly robbed Marmillion at gunpoint and then shot her. She was transported to a hospital but later died from her injuries.

Arrest and Charges

Taylor was arrested Thursday and charged as a principal in the first-degree murder, principal to armed robbery, and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Investigators cited phone records showing Taylor agreed to pick up Lewis for the arranged meeting.

Lewis was arrested days after the shooting and booked into the Juvenile Detention Facility on charges including first-degree murder, armed robbery, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, and obstruction of justice. He is scheduled to be tried as an adult.
