A heartbreaking crash in Colorado has left a family mourning the loss of a young couple while also calling the survival of their 5-year-old daughter a miracle. Authorities say the child remained inside the crashed vehicle with her deceased parents for more than a day before rescuers finally discovered her alive.

According to officials, emergency crews from the Upper Pine River Fire Protection District responded to a rollover crash near Highway 160 in Bayfield, Colorado, on May 2, 2026.
When responders arrived, they found a pickup truck upside down and badly damaged on the side of the road.
Authorities identified the victims as Devante Griffin and Klariza Tarango, a young couple from New Mexico who were raising two daughters together.
Sadly, both adults were pronounced dead at the scene.
5-Year-Old Daughter Found Alive Inside Wreckage
Despite the tragic scene, emergency responders discovered the couple’s 5-year-old daughter, Kaycee, alive inside the vehicle.
Officials said the child survived with only minor injuries, even though investigators believe she may have been trapped in the wreckage for more than 24 hours alongside her parents’ bodies.
