A 71-year-old man from Downsville, Lonnie Williamson, tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle crash in Jackson Parish on May 8, 2026. According to Louisiana State Police (LSP), the fatal collision occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 4 and Taylor Road.
Details of the Crash
Investigators from LSP Troop F reported that a 2020 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling west on LA-4, while Williamson was riding east on his 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. As the Chevrolet attempted to make a left turn onto Taylor Road, it entered the motorcycle’s path, leading to a collision in the eastbound lane.
Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Williamson died at the scene from the injuries sustained in the crash.
Injuries and Investigation
The driver of the Chevrolet was not properly restrained and was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. LSP reported that there is no suspicion of impairment, but they have collected routine toxicology samples for analysis.
