The incident took place outside the Indian River County Main Library in Vero Beach.
According to the Vero Beach Police Department, 64-year-old Jesse Scott Ellis allegedly opened fire in the parking lot.
The victims were identified as his wife, Stacie Ellis Mason, and her colleague, Danny Ooley, both of whom worked for the county government.
Police said the two had arrived separately but were sitting together in one car when the shooting happened.

Officials believe the incident may have been driven by a personal dispute. Police described it as a “crime of passion,” suggesting that Ellis was upset over a suspected relationship between his wife and Ooley.
