A bizarre and alarming incident unfolded at a private beachside condominium community when a man, 50-year-old Yacov Levi, was arrested for allegedly threatening another individual with a drill during an argument over a beach chair.
The altercation took place on April 29, 2026, and has led to serious charges against Levi, who reportedly became enraged when he was denied access to a beach chair.
The Argument Over the Beach Chair
According to an arrest affidavit, Levi entered the private community and asked if he could sit on a beach chair. When he was told he could not because he was not a resident, he allegedly became irate. Witnesses reported that Levi then swung a beach umbrella at someone and charged after a man while holding a large drill, threatening to kill him.
The situation escalated further when Levi allegedly fled down the beach with the drill still in hand, according to witnesses. The drill was reportedly several feet long, adding a menacing element to the confrontation.
Attempt to Arrest and Further Violence
When police arrived to arrest Levi, the situation became even more chaotic. Authorities claim that Levi resisted arrest, kicking an officer in the legs. He also allegedly used the drill to damage one of the beach chairs, causing approximately $500 in damage. Levi was reportedly sitting on the chair and refusing to move when officers arrived.
Charges and Criminal History
Levi faces multiple charges, including attempted aggravated battery, battery on a law enforcement officer, and misdemeanor criminal mischief. He was booked into jail on April 29, 2026, following the incident.
Levi has a criminal history dating back to 2018. In 2023, he was allegedly involved in an incident where he attempted to steal a Jet Ski while naked.
Bond Hearing and Future Legal Proceedings
Levi’s bond hearing was scheduled for April 30, 2026, but he reportedly refused to appear and became aggressive, prompting the hearing to be rescheduled for the following day.
