A tragic child ab*se case in Colorado has shocked the local community after a 4-year-old boy died following what police described as severe physical ab*se.
According to the Aurora Police Department, officers responded to an apartment in Aurora on May 23, 2026, after receiving reports of an unresponsive child.
When emergency crews arrived, they found the boy, identified online as Xander, unconscious and not breathing. He was rushed to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
Mother and Family Friend Arrested
Police arrested Alexander Martinez-Armstrong after he reportedly admitted to physically striking the child before his death.
Investigators later alleged that the child’s mother, Destini Rose Lipsky, approved and encouraged the punishments.
According to court documents, Lipsky allegedly asked Martinez-Armstrong to help discipline her son using “boot camp”-style methods because she was struggling with the child’s behaviour.
Authorities said the boy was punished for things such as lying, sneaking into his mother’s purse, and taking candy.
Child Allegedly Endured Repeated Punishments
Investigators reported that the child suffered injuries in various stages of healing, suggesting ongoing ab*se.
Court records stated that Martinez-Armstrong’s girlfriend told police she could hear the child screaming while he was being punished in another room.
Lipsky reportedly admitted that she herself used punishments including spanking, whipping, push-ups, planks, and wall sits.
Police say Martinez-Armstrong later admitted to striking the boy with a belt multiple times on the day he died.
Serious Charges Filed
Prosecutors charged Martinez-Armstrong with first-degree murder in connection with the child’s death.
Lipsky was charged with child ab*se resulting in death.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue gathering evidence related to the case.
Community Reacts With Shock and Anger
News of the child’s death quickly spread across social media, where many community members expressed sadness and outrage.
Several people commented on the police department’s Facebook post, with many describing the case as heartbreaking and disturbing.
The tragedy has also renewed discussions about child ab*se, discipline, and the responsibility adults have to protect children from harm.
