Amazon Driver Saves Woman from Violent Attack
An Amazon driver in Minnesota may have prevented a woman from being killed by her own husband. According to Chisago County court documents obtained by KSTP, the incident occurred on May 11, 2026, at a home in Wyoming, Minnesota. While dropping off a package, the driver reportedly heard screaming from inside the house.
When the driver looked inside, he saw a woman covered in blood and her husband, 72-year-old James Alan Johnson, holding a hammer. The delivery driver bravely forced his way into the home and told Johnson to drop the weapon, potentially saving the woman’s life.
Emergency Response and Injuries
After the Amazon driver called 911, police officers and paramedics arrived quickly. They found the woman with severe injuries, including head indentations, allegedly inflicted by her husband. The woman reportedly fought back, kicking Johnson in the groin to keep him at bay. Authorities said that without the driver’s intervention, the outcome could have been fatal.
Motive and Arrest
During questioning, Johnson reportedly said he was worried about his failing business and the financial impact it would have on his wife. He allegedly justified the attack by saying she would have to live on “significantly reduced” Social Security benefits. Johnson admitted that he had planned to kill his wife several days in advance.
He now faces charges of premeditated attempted first-degree murder and assault. Johnson was taken into custody at Chisago County Jail.
Police Praise the Delivery Driver
The Wyoming Police Department publicly thanked the Amazon driver for his heroic actions. In a social media post, the department stated that the driver’s intervention helped bring the situation to an end and assisted the victim. They noted that the driver’s bravery would be formally recognised at an appropriate time.
This incident highlights how ordinary acts of courage by everyday people can make a life-or-death difference. The woman is recovering from her injuries, thanks in large part to the quick thinking of a delivery driver who stepped in when it mattered most.
