Tangipahoa Parish, LA – A 37-year-old man from LaPlace, Louisiana died Monday night after crashing into a weigh station along Interstate 55 in Tangipahoa Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

The Crash Incident

Troopers identified the driver as Kylen R. Wilkens, who was driving a 2017 Acura TLX south on Interstate 55. At around 8:40 p.m., for reasons still unknown, Wilkens veered off the road just north of Highway 1050. He lost control of the vehicle, went off the road to the right, and struck a state weigh station.

No Seatbelt and Fatal Injuries

Wilkens was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding authorities. The weigh station was closed at the time, and no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
