A 40-year-old man from Thibodaux, Louisiana, was arrested on multiple drug charges after a traffic stop led to a dramatic incident on the Labadieville bridge. Quintero Jupiter was apprehended by deputies from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly threw an item containing drugs into Bayou Lafourche during the stop.
The Traffic Stop and Escape Attempt
According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, a narcotics agent attempted to stop Jupiter’s vehicle after it committed a traffic violation. As the agent approached the vehicle, Jupiter is said to have thrown an item over the Labadieville bridge into the bayou in an apparent attempt to dispose of evidence. Despite the attempt to flee, Jupiter eventually stopped his vehicle.
Drug Recovery and Arrest
Following the arrest, authorities recovered MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, from Bayou Lafourche. The drugs were located after Jupiter had discarded them during the flight attempt. Jupiter was then taken into custody and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on several charges.
Charges Against Jupiter
Jupiter now faces multiple charges, including:
- Possession with intent to distribute MDMA
- Obstruction of justice
- Flight from an officer
- Driving on a roadway laned for traffic
Authorities continue to investigate the case, and Jupiter is expected to face a court hearing in the near future. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug-related crime in the region.
