A joint operation by the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) has successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking and indoor marijuana cultivation operation spanning Orleans and Jefferson parishes.

The investigation led to the seizure of hundreds of marijuana plants, other narcotics, and numerous weapons, including fully automatic firearms.

Details of the Operation

NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick and Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto revealed the results of the investigation on March 20, 2026, saying it involved multiple individuals engaged in cultivating and distributing marijuana across parish lines.

Authorities targeted three separate indoor marijuana grow operations. Investigators executed search warrants on March 19, at two locations in Jefferson Parish, where they discovered indoor grow sites equipped with lighting, irrigation, and climate control systems. At these locations, authorities seized approximately 190 marijuana plants and 45 pounds of processed marijuana and made arrests.

Expansion of the Investigation

On March 20, the investigation expanded into Algiers, where the NOPD’s Gang Unit executed another search warrant and uncovered another active grow operation. Investigators seized:

  • 230 marijuana plants at various stages of growth
  • Packaged marijuana
  • Psilocybin mushrooms
  • Cocaine
  • Around 50 firearms, including handgunsshotgunsrifles, and fully automatic weapons
  • About $5,800 in cash

Authorities’ Statements

“This is about intentional strategies, strong partnerships, and consistent follow-through,” Kirkpatrick said, highlighting the dangerous combination of illegal narcotics and high-powered weapons, which pose a threat to public safety.

Sheriff Joe Lopinto emphasized the success of the operation, noting that it shows the benefits of agencies working together to target criminal enterprises.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Two people were arrested in connection with the operation, but one suspect remains at large. Authorities identified the wanted suspect as Long Van Pham, 42, and issued an arrest warrant for him on drug and weapons charges.

The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the NOPD or the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
