A normal working day turned into a heartbreaking tragedy in New Jersey, leaving a family, workplace, and community in deep shock. What began as a routine morning for a nurse ended in a devastating act of violence that no one expected.
Nurse Killed in Workplace Shooting
Victoria Alexander, a 38-year-old nurse, arrived at work on April 13, 2026, at Excelcare Rehabilitation Facility in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Like any other day, she came in early in the morning, but sadly, she never got the chance to begin her duties.
According to police, her estranged husband, Brandon Alexander, was already waiting for her in the parking lot. He allegedly blocked her car using his own vehicle and then got inside her car.
Incident Took Place Within Minutes
Authorities shared that once inside the car, Brandon placed two suicide notes on the dashboard. The situation quickly became tense and dangerous.
A delivery truck driver who was nearby approached the couple and asked Brandon to move his vehicle. This small interruption created a brief moment for Victoria to escape.
Victim Tried to Escape
Victoria took that chance and ran towards the building, hoping to reach safety. However, her husband chased after her.
Police say Brandon then shot her multiple times before turning the gun on himself. Emergency responders reached the scene quickly, but Victoria was declared dead on the spot. Brandon was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died shortly after.
Community Left in Shock
The incident has deeply affected the staff and residents at the rehabilitation facility. The administration released a statement expressing their sadness and support for Victoria’s family.
They described her as a valued employee and said the entire workplace is shaken by what happened. Officials also confirmed that this was an isolated incident and that no patients or other staff members were harmed.
Loved Ones Share Their Grief
Friends, family, and colleagues have been expressing their sorrow and disbelief over the tragic loss. Many shared emotional messages online, remembering Victoria as a kind and caring person who did not deserve such a fate.
Some friends spoke about their long-standing bond with her, while coworkers remembered her as one of their favourite nurses. Her loss has left a big gap in both her personal and professional circles.
Unanswered Questions Remain
At this point, it is still not clear what led to the tragic incident. While the couple was reportedly estranged, the exact reason behind the violence is still unknown.
However, the focus now remains on supporting the grieving family, especially her children, who have lost their mother in such a painful way.
