Philadelphia authorities have identified the man whose torso was found in a suitcase and other body parts in trash bags as 53-year-old Vincent Good. His caregiver and several relatives have been charged in connection with his killing and the alleged cover-up.

Discovery of Remains

On the morning of May 22, a person searching for scrap metal in an alley off the 600 block of East Hilton Street discovered Good’s torso inside a discarded suitcase. Police responded immediately and later found additional human remains in two large trash bags nearby, which were in an early stage of decomposition.

The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that all the remains belonged to Good. The office ruled his death a homicide, finding that he died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Alleged Dismemberment and Cover-Up

Authorities allege that after the killing, Good’s body was dismembered, with parts placed in the suitcase and trash bags before being dumped in the alley. Officials have not publicly disclosed when they believe the shooting occurred or how long the remains were in the alley before being discovered.

Charges Filed

Philadelphia District Attorney officials said Good’s caregiver, 53-year-old Liza Ridley, has been charged with murder and ab*se of a corpse. Additional charges were filed against relatives who allegedly assisted in concealing the crime:

  • Bernadette Ridley, Liza’s older sister, charged with obstruction, tampering with evidence, and ab*se of a corpse
  • Liza Robinson, Ridley’s daughter, charged with obstruction and tampering with evidence
  • Gnaeus Daniels, Robinson’s boyfriend, charged with obstruction and tampering with evidence

Authorities allege these relatives helped move, conceal, or dispose of Good’s remains after his death.

Investigation Ongoing

Police have not released a motive for the killing. Detectives continue reviewing evidence and timelines related to Good’s care and living arrangements in the period leading up to his death.

Officials are urging anyone with information about Good’s final days or the handling of his remains to contact the Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or submit a tip to 215-686-TIPS, according to CBS News.
