A long-term narcotics investigation in Vernon Parish has led to the arrest of a Leesville man following a search of his residence.

Arrest in Vernon Parish Drug Investigation

Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office announced that on May 14, 2026, Jason Smith, also known as “Catwalk,” 48, of Leesville, was taken into custody. The arrest came after a multi-agency task force executed a search warrant at Smith’s home on Pine Road.

Seizure of Drugs and Firearms

Authorities reported seizing large quantities of methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana, and multiple firearms during the search. The evidence collected formed the basis for Smith’s arrest and charges.

Charges Filed

Smith was booked on multiple charges, including possession of a Schedule I narcotic, possession of a Schedule II narcotic with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of illegal carrying of a weapon. He remains in the Vernon Parish Jail with no bond set at this time.

Ongoing Investigation

Officials said the investigation is still active, and additional charges or arrests may follow as authorities continue reviewing evidence. Sheriff Craft emphasized that the task force will maintain its focus on narcotics enforcement throughout the region to keep communities safe.
