A man has been arrested in New Orleans after stabbing a security guard at a medical facility late Sunday night. The incident occurred at an Uptown location near Touro Hospital and Touro Infirmary.
Man Arrested After Stabbing Security Guard at New Orleans Medical Facility
According to the New Orleans Police Department, 33-year-old Edwin Williams was arrested following a stabbing in the 1400 block of Foucher Street around 11:25 p.m. on Sunday. Williams, who had been discharged from the medical facility, reportedly refused to leave the premises.
When a security guard attempted to escort Williams out of the facility, Williams allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the guard. Authorities responded quickly to the scene, and Williams was detained by officers.
Victim Stable After Being Stabbed
The security guard was immediately taken by New Orleans EMS to a local trauma center. Police later confirmed that the victim’s condition was stable as of Monday morning.
Williams Facing Serious Charges
Williams was booked into Orleans Parish Prison on charges of attempted second-degree murder. In addition to this charge, he faces counts of possession of crack cocaine and introducing contraband into prison, according to records from the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities have not provided additional details about the altercation or the events leading up to the stabbing.
