A Louisiana man has been arrested after authorities say he threatened to blow up part of the Ouachita Parish Courthouse during an incident involving court staff in Monroe.
According to arrest records, 52-year-old Bryan Wayne Landry of West Monroe now faces a charge related to communicating false information about a planned act of arson after allegedly making threats inside the courthouse.
Incident Happened Inside Ouachita Parish Courthouse
Authorities said a deputy with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the courthouse shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
The incident reportedly happened on the fourth floor of the Ouachita Parish Courthouse.
According to arrest records, a receptionist working in the area told deputies she heard Landry threaten to blow up both a judge’s assistant and the courthouse itself.
The alleged threat immediately triggered a law enforcement response inside the government building.
Suspect Denied Making Threats
After deputies confronted Landry about the incident, authorities advised him of his Miranda rights.
According to investigators, Landry repeatedly denied threatening the judge’s assistant or the courthouse.
Despite his denial, authorities proceeded with the arrest based on witness statements gathered during the investigation.
Landry Charged and Booked Into Jail
Following the investigation, Bryan Wayne Landry was arrested and charged with communicating false information of planned arson.
Authorities later booked him into the Ouachita Correctional Center.
Officials have not released additional details regarding possible court appearances or bond information.
