A couple in Louisiana has been arrested after a disturbing child abuse incident involving a 14-year-old boy. Gina Sagona, 44, faces charges of cruelty to a juvenile, while her partner, Mark Sagona, 45, has been charged with principal to cruelty to a juvenile, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Disturbing Incident Reported to Authorities
Law enforcement responded to a home in Ascension Parish, located between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, after the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services reported a child abuse incident. The investigation revealed a shocking account of abuse, leading to the arrest of the Sagonas.
Home Video Shows Abuse
Detectives reviewed home video footage that allegedly shows Gina Sagona forcing the teenage boy face down into dog urine and dragging him through it. According to the sheriff’s office, the boy was also struck multiple times during the incident. Investigators noted that Mark Sagona was allegedly present during portions of the abuse but did not intervene.
Couple Arrested and Booked into Jail
Gina Sagona reportedly admitted to the abuse during her interview with investigators. Both she and Mark Sagona were arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. Gina Sagona is being held on a $50,000 bond, while Mark Sagona’s bond is set at $40,000.
Investigation and Relationship Details
Authorities have stressed that the investigation is ongoing, and the relationship between the Sagonas and the teenager has not yet been clarified. Both defendants remain in custody and are awaiting their arraignment in court.
