Authorities say two men are now in custody following a violent home invasion that left a woman injured in the Springfield area.

Woman Attacked During Robbery

According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 11 a.m. on March 30 at a home on Patterson Drive. Deputies say two masked men forced their way inside and demanded money from the woman, who uses a wheelchair. When she refused, investigators say she was struck with a weapon and knocked to the ground.

The suspects allegedly stole her cell phone and a safe containing cash, then zip-tied her hands before fleeing the scene.

Suspects Identified and Arrested

Authorities identified the suspects as Rickey Rogers, 67, and Alvin Johnson, 65, both from Baton Rouge. They have been charged with home invasion and armed robbery.

How Deputies Tracked Them

With help from the victim, deputies were able to identify the suspect vehicle and track it to Baton Rouge. The suspects were located on North Foster Drive and taken into custody. Officials say the stolen money was recovered.

Sheriff Jason Ard said investigators believe the crime was targeted and emphasized that such actions will not be tolerated in the parish.
