Authorities in Jefferson Parish are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that left one person dead and several others injured. The collision occurred at a busy intersection and remains under review as officials gather more details.

Crash Details

Deputies with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after noon on April 10 to a crash at the intersection of 8th Street and Barataria Boulevard.

At the scene, they found two vehicles involved: a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Chevrolet Malibu.

Fatality and Injuries

An elderly woman inside the Malibu was found unresponsive and suffering from crash-related injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and another passenger in the Malibu, along with the driver of the Jeep, were transported to a hospital. All were reported to be in stable condition.

Preliminary Findings

According to investigators, the Jeep was traveling southbound on Barataria Boulevard when the Malibu attempted to cross the roadway from 8th Street.

The attempt to cross resulted in the collision.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities said there were no immediate signs of impairment from any of the drivers involved.
